Abstract

A tool for axial force known as XTRACT for ultimate curvature interactions was discussed. The tool had been used on many high profile projects for both buildings and bridges. The ultimate curvature determined the ultimate rotations and the ultimate displacement capacity. Using the axial-force interaction analysis in XTRACT with target strains set to ultimate values, an axial force-ultimate curvature could be constructed that shows the variation in axial load with corresponding curvatures. The rapid construction of this curve could be executed in XTRACT for the determination of ultimate curvature capacities.
