Victims Movement

Research output: Chapter in Book/Report/Conference proceedingChapter

Abstract

The victims movement combined concerns raised by the civil rights and feminist movements with law-and-order policy efforts to get tough on crime while advancing the cause of victims. By the 1980s in the United States, the redefined victims' rights movement, or VRM, was creating state-level legal protections for victims, as well as enjoining with federal organizations and actions to support greater funding for victim services. Today, the victims' movement continues to press for improved justice response to a range of victims, including those often marginalized in society.
