Abstract
A new strategy employs amorphous melts of active pharmaceutical agents, which are formed with metal chlorides, including ZnCl 2, through speciation ambiguity. The Lewis acidic, bioinorganic ionic liquid formulations improve shelf life and water solubility and eliminate issues related to crystal polymorphism. This broad-ranging approach produces thermally robust chlorometallate preparations for use as lotions, antibiofilm agents, and in situations without refrigeration.
