Abstract

The objective was to determine if DG, when used as an epicardial patch, would stimulate new vessel development within ischemic cardiac tissue. Branch occlusion of the LAD coronary was performed using thermal ligation in SCID mice (n=6 per group) and suture ligation in farm pigs (n=3 per group). DG was sutured onto the epicardium at the ischemic region, whereas untreated control animals received no implant during surgery.
