Abstract

Changing health-related attitudes and behaviors is an integral aspect of promoting health. In this entry, we begin by examining the ways in which external sources promote health attitude and behavior change through characteristics of a message and the ways individuals process these messages. We then explore the role of implicit attitudes in health persuasion. Finally, we turn our attention to ways in which individuals persuade themselves to make health-related attitude and behavior change.
