Abstract

In the present work we report a detailed study of model catalysts ofMoS2 and MoS2:Co, using a number of techniques such as High Resolution Electron Microscopy, X-Ray Microanalysis, Auger Microscopy, in situ Electron Microscopy and Electron Diffraction. In particular we studied the effect of heating the crystals in a H2S atmosphere. It was found that a superlattice array is formed below the edges of the material. This array is independent on the structure of the edges and it is directly induced by the heating of the sample. A model for the superlattice is presented.
