Abstract
Social media refers to various forms of electronic communications through which end users share different forms of ideas and content, which includes pictures, video clips, and messages. Social media applications are also venues for microblogging and networking among invited individuals with mostly similar interests. Contemporary public managers should be adequately conversant with the new-networked workplace and be familiar with social media technologies (Mergel 2012). These applications are transforming organizational cultures in unprecedented ways. Governments and other institutions are finding social media as important tools for communicative exchanges with the public.
