Abstract

Difference is all around us. It is what we see when we look at someone that is different from ourselves. It is what we see when we look in the mirror. How do these differences shape how we view the world? Injustice and intolerance are both ubiquitous and all encompassing. Some say they do not see others as being different from themselves. As educators we must ask, what harm does not seeing differences pose in our society? We must understand dominant and target groups and help our adult learners into a self-awareness of behaving and thinking as socially just adults. This chapter will identify the tenets of social justice for the adult learner.
