Abstract

An innovative approach used at the University of Northern British Columbia helps develop the "target qualities" (Keuler 1999) of graduates in natural resources management. Scenario planning is used to engage students in projects that represent the complexity and peculiarities of natural resources management in British Columbia today. Although it is not a panacea, scenario planning does promote the development of the skills, knowledge, and perspectives required to address complex problems.
