Abstract

Nanoclusters are stable collections of a few metal atoms (∼2-144 atoms) that lie at the transition between atomic and nanoparticle behavior of metals. With size comparable to the Fermi wavelength, these materials have molecule-like behavior including discrete electronic states and size-dependent fluorescence or catalysis.
