Abstract

Completion of some form of post-secondary education serves to increase the likelihood of securing gainful and satisfying employment and a high quality of life for all individuals, including those with special learning and behavioral needs. This article discusses the issues and barriers experienced, as well as strategies used to support students with special needs as they prepare for, seek access to, successfully participate in, retain, and complete post-secondary education. This article provides recommendations and other informational resources for professionals conducting training and research, and/or directly supporting students with special needs as they seek to access and succeed in post-secondary educational environments.
