Abstract
Standard stumpage rates for commercial pinyon-juniper fuelwood sales on the national forests in Arizona are set by the USDA Forest Service using a residual value approach model, based on average costs and values for all sales areas. Stumpage values for 120 pinyon-juniper commercial fuelwood cutting units in 18 sale areas for the yr 1984-1988 on the Kaibab and Coconino National Forests in northern Arizona were examined. The standard rate appraisal approach may need to be revised or replaced for sales that do not fit model assumptions. -from Author
