Abstract

The purpose of this article is to review the short- and long-term benefits of physical activity for individuals with type 2 diabetes, including glycemic control and amelioration of complications, and summarize the current evidence-based recommendations for exercise/physical activity testing and prescription. Precautions and comorbid conditions for individuals with diabetes are also included when exercise modifications may be necessary.
