Abstract

Cadmium telluride nanocrystals were covalently bound to a partially hydrolyzed matrix of poly(vinyl alcohol). Its chemical and electronic structures were studied via thermogravimetric analysis, Fourier transform infrared and ultraviolet/visible spectroscopies. The amount of material incorporated in the matrix was estimated from thermogravimetric measurements and the dielectric constant of the films. Electrical parameters of the films were studied via Van der Pauw measurements and point towards a hopping transport assisted by the formation of polarons in the polymeric matrix.
