Abstract
The shape and crystallography of small metallic particles of platinum on a graphite substrate are studied by high resolution weak beam dark field and microdiffraction electron microscopy techniques. It is found that they have the fcc bulk crystal structure and their shape is a cubooctahedron bounded by {111} and {100} faces. The implications for the catalytic reaction of neopentane on Pt/C catalyst are discussed.
