Abstract
Multidimensional measures of Caregiver burden give a more complete picture of caregivers' responses to the demands of care and may be used to formulate effective healthcare interventions. This paper reports the findings of a study which reexamines the Caregiver Burden Inventory (CBI) developed by Novak and Guest (1989) as a diagnostic tool for use by healthcare professionals working with caregivers. It concludes that the CBI is a psychometrically sound instrument and discusses implications for use of the CBI by healthcare professionals.
