Abstract
The synthesis of SiO2-coated Fe nanoparticles and their structural and magnetic properties were discussed. The saturation magnetization of the particles increased with increasing calcination temperature, while their coercivity decreased with the increase in calcination temperature. The exchange anisotropy arising from the exchanged acrossed the Fe/ferrihydrite interfaces was investigated and was used in interpreting the observed temperature behaviors.
