Abstract

Primitive asteroids and meteorites provide important insight into the early history of the solar system. This chapter discusses water-rich asteroid and meteorite spectroscopy and mineralogy, the association of organics and minerals in water-rich asteroids and meteorites, and the linkage between these meteorites and asteroids and its implications for planetary science exploration. Owing to the interdisciplinary nature of this chapter’s topic, we also point to other relevant chapters (Chapters 2, 4, and 5Chapter 2Chapter 4Chapter 5).
