Abstract

With rapid advances in information technology, many organizations are trying to use new technology to make themselves more successful. The popular approach that is being recommended is business process reengineering. However, there is a lack of clearly articulated frame-works and models for carrying out business process reengineering. This paper describes a concise framework for business transformation that is based on sound engineering principles. The general approach is applicative rather than descriptive. Along with the framework, a methodology to implement it is described so that different groups can better identify their roles and responsibilities within the framework. Our work is based on a business transformation effort carried out over the last four years in the distribution industry.
