Abstract

In the present work we report an experimental study of lattice distortions in metallic nanoparticles. In our case the surface of the particle was passivated with surfactant molecule (dodecanothiol). We found that significant differences with respect to the interatomic distances of bulk metals can be observed. The consequences of these findings are discussed.
