Abstract

The authors regret that the burned areas were reported incorrectly due to a units error. All originally reported values must be multiplied by 10. The corrected texts and figures are as follows 3.5. Burned areas. In Melo the mean burned area (±sd) was 498 ± 66 ha, while in Vivario and Tartagine they were 200 ± 35 ha and 313 ± 56 ha, respectively. From 1849 to 1916, the area burned per fire year averaged 540 ± 38 ha and was significantly different from the other two periods: 309 ± 43 ha from 1659 to 1848 (Wilcoxon-test; p = 0.027) and 321 ± 44 ha from 1917 to 2023 (p = 0.043; Figure 5c; T able S4).[Figure presented] Fig. 5. Historical range of variability of burned areas We found that 68% (1 sigma) of burned areas range between 100 and 600 ha in all Corsican study sites. Exceptionally, areas extended until 840 ha, and largest reconstructed areas reached 1000 ha. The authors would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused.
