Abstract

This article has focused on classifying foot and ankle disorders into four broad categories, each of which represents a specific functional limitation. These categories are: Excess motion in the subtalar or midtarsal joint of the foot. Limited motion in the subtalar or midtarsal joint of the foot. Impaired shock attenuation at foot strike. Impaired conversion of lower extremity rotation to foot motion. This classification system should simplify treatment choices.
