Abstract

This chapter addresses how scholarly podcasting offers an innovative approach for public scholarship, providing accessible and engaging content that can bridge the gap between academia and public audiences. It examines how professional may use knowledge disseminated through podcasts to inform their work. As research across fields becomes increasingly complex and often inaccessible due to paywalls or time constraints, scholarly podcasts can serve as a flexible medium for professional learning. Building on Boyer’s model of engaged scholarship, which emphasises the integration, application, and teaching of knowledge, this chapter details the use of scholarly podcasts during Pod Clubs to promote the understanding and application of research ideas. By facilitating connections between experts and practitioners, Pod Clubs promote a collaborative scholarly community, contributing to the public scholarship ecosystem.
