note = "Funding Information: Yes, in the PPACA, an advanced practice registered nurse is defined as a clinical nurse specialist, NP, certified registered nurse anesthetist, and certified nurse midwife. NPs are mentioned by title 34 times, whereas advanced practice registered nurse is mentioned 12 times. Because many places in the PPACA are directly related to NPs specifically, that term is used instead of advanced practice registered nurse. This shows the value that we bring to the health care landscape. These mentions of NPs include the definition of us as health professionals. As was discussed in this column last month, family nurse practitioner education is supported through the PPACA by funding of 5 demonstration grants for family nurse practitioner training programs. Additionally, advanced practice registered nurses are mentioned in connection with nurse-managed health clinics and NPs as qualified to provide care in an independence at home medical practice.
