Abstract

Microgrid systems play a pivotal role in utilizing the distributed energy sources for reaching a more economic, safe, and environment-friendly energy ecosystem. A coherent adaptation of such systems requires a serious consideration of their resistance to cyber attacks due to the increasing threat profile of cyberspace and the potentially huge impact of malicious cyber actions on the energy systems. This study provides the results of our literature review regarding the cyber attacks on Microgrid systems. We created an attack taxonomy based on the review findings. This attack taxonomy can be utilized by practitioners for various purposes including security assessments of Microgrid systems or relevant cyber threat modeling studies.
