note = "Funding Information: Several models of successful com munity-wide health education programs focusing on reducing CHD risk factors, including cholesterol, exist. The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institutes (NHLBI) has funded three major community cardiovas cular disease prevention research projects which emphasize cholesterol intervention: the Stanford 3 and 5 city studies (Farquhar et al., 1985), the Minnesota Heart Health Program (Mittlemark et al., 1986) and the Paw tucket Heart Health Program (Lefebvre et aI., 1986). These programs have emphasized multiple intervention approaches. Each has used combinations of mass media, in tensive instruction, professional education, training lay volunteers and community organization.",
